Hi,

I downloaded the application from z/VSE home page and installed it on my phone.

It is a nice start, but unfortunately too many URLs are getting 400 error codes and the main page is just T&C page from about 5 years ago.

I suggest that IBM should do more QA tests before they publish it on their page.

Per an IBM contact on another list, someone at IBM turned over managing
and design of the web pages to someone in India a while back.
Recently, they have revamped all the pages. Now, most things I find
using google give me a 'page not available' message. I have been doing a
lot of googling against z/OS and z/VM and it seems like any page, other
than the main reference documents can not be found.

I bet the app is suffering because of all the reorganization by the Indians.

Oh, and my opinion of the new web page formatting of the reference
documents is that it stinks, and it too slow. They have even removed a
lot of the 'download pdf' buttons. Mostly, the option is only available
at the book level and not any lower. So, downloading and looking at the
book is also more of a pain.

The old Book Manager formats were great for searching; even on the web.

Ditto! "New and improved" is not always improved. The same can be said for the new CA web pages. I suggest they should subscribe to the K.I.S.S., method.

Unfortunately, developers don't always know the subject material nor need to use the final product to do an actual job. If they did, we might get something different.

From Ingolf's Blog:

Over the weekend there was a discussion on VSE-L about the z/VSE Quick Reference mobile application for Android, that you could download from the z/VSE home page. The app does contain some unresolved links, because the content of web pages moved. We decided to no longer enhance this app and removed it form the web page,
because it is hard to track all link changes. If you are looking for any kind of z/VSE information, please start with our web page - here.
On your right hand you see the "Browse z/VSE" section, where you can find the most important topics as a start.

You may also use this blog to search for a specific topic, just use the Tags section on your right to "Find a tag".

Now to the subject for today:
A new version of IBM Doc Buddy is available. With the Doc Buddy mobile app available for iOS and Android devices, you can search messages and codes issued from IBM Z products online and offline. Doc Buddy is / will be extended with additional content, such as blogs and videos. I hope to get more z/VSE related information into it. I will keep you posted.
Doc Buddy is available in the app stores. More information is here.

See the blog itself for the links:
