SSL and Host On-Demand

Currently, our VSE system uses port 2893 for VSE Connectors (STARTVCS). However, our z/OS and z/VM use port 992 for SSL.

We are trying to implement Host On-Demand. It has a requirement for TN3270E to use port 992.

Can I assume that I can change port 2893 to port 992 for VSE Connectors (STARTVCS) and Host On-Demand will work ?

Port 992 is the secure telnet port (i.e TN3270 access).

The VSE Connectors do not provide TN3270 accessed.

You need to look at your TN3270 provider for setting up the secure
telnet port 992.

That would be IBM, since we don't use CSI.

For TN3270, it's either CSI or BSI.

While both are also resold by IBM, IBM does not provide any other TN3270
solution, including within the connectors.

VSE-L can be of better help if we knew which you are using.

I believe I am using the CSI version, but I have an IBM license.

CSI gave me a temporary password while I was trying to find the IBM license.

I have found a Redbook called 'Security on IBM zVSE'. It talks about two types of SSL.

One is SSL in native mode and the other is SSL in pass through mode.

Which one should I use for Host On-Demand?
