We’re losing 70% of our workload this year. But then again, that should of happened 20 years ago and we’re still here. I’ll give it another 3 years. Must be someone out there since IBM keeps releasing new versions to support the latest and greatest hardware.

We’re still here. For the next 3 – 5 years, if managements projects are successful.

When I worked for a vendor, I had about 35 accounts in the Chicago area (including some Wisconsin Illinois away from Chicago , and some Indiana). There were more handled by others.
Off the top of my head, I’d say there are 4 or 5 left, including us. But that’ll only be another 4 or 5 years tops….

I’ve been told our z/VSE Systems would be gone “in less than 5 years” since about 2 weeks after I started here. Been here for 16 years, now. And *if* the project is successful, it will still take 3 – 4 years. I’m planning 5…

Someone here has expressed concern that we may be the last VSE shop in the world someday.
From Italy: VSE/ESA 2.3.1 …. and it is still working!

Unfortunately there are a lot of z/OS shops that SHOULD be running z/VSE - if it were a more vital operating platform.
I know of one z/OS site that runs a total of three applications; they in no way come close to exploiting the capabilities of z/OS but I can't blame them for thinking they need to run it.

Going back to Mike's post, only 18 months to my 65th. Maybe I can still do some VSE things afterwards though.

It's sentiment like that that makes me think a consortium of VSE old timers with lots of experience and time on their hands could stand a chance of taking the product to new levels.

I guess it depends on what the definition of "dead" is.
