Hi everyone,
My students in Singapore summarized their design research into the potential of gamification of such citizen science projects with a series of mockups and ideas here
https://github.com/DennisAng/BioStrike/
What we really need is that open data/publishing picture platform that allows photo-tagging, but there are also some cool idea on the use AR for figuring out dilution in the first part and we also summarized our experience with working on the protocol - the critical and crucial point remains the standardization of the ecoli plates = we need official partners that will supply everyone with a same type of ecoli palte so we can compare... the other possibiliy is just wild sharing  of any kinds of plates and results, which is also OK....

Also, recently we run another workshop in Yogyakarta, Indonesia on Biostrike with Malthe, but he will prepare the summary.
The next workshop maybe in Prague in May 2014.

Best,
Denisa

hoi zäme,

i was just checking abit about soil sampling and other methods to investigate soil biodiversity.

here a nice simple instruction on plating the agar-plates:

And i guess, it would also be interesting to look into standards of soil-sampling.... I like his staaayle :-)

here a more DIY version of a soil-corer

gonna make some experiments the next couple of days in the Hackteria's Forest research lab in Randen!

also gonna look into micro and mesofauna

best,
m
