Hey all for any of you in the north bay here is a great project that could use some more hands.  Amazing project for them to get ahead of the long term damage of the fires.

Folks from Bay Area Applied Mycology are involved in a massive myco-remediation project in the burned areas of Sonoma County. Awesome project, and they can always use more volunteers!  Sign up via the link below...

Hey BAAMers,

There is a lot happening up in the Fire Zone.  Fire Remediation Action Coalition has coordinated the largest myco-remediation project ever attempted. They are placing spawn/straw wattles in crucial areas to capture and filter toxic runoff before it enters the watercourses. They have a 1000 bales of straw, lots of contributed spawn and many volunteers. But, they can always use more. A thousand bales of straw is a massive amount and it’s an ongoing effort. Currently volunteers sign up for 2 hour shifts. It take’s place in Nicasio at the West Marin Compost Center. While the work is physical it’s not too strenuous, there’s a lot of mechanized assist. See photos. The wattles viewed below four of us did on our shift. By the way, Nicasio is a great area to explore afterwards, or hop over to Pt. Reyes.

Also, check out the BAAM FB page for updates and to see posts of what’s unfolding.
