Awesome guys!

Good luck! From your project page it seems you are well prepared.

Will be holding thumbs and may high altitude be with you.

Looking forward to the footage.

Regards,
Philip

Hi All,

Will do a proper update once we have crunched the data and sorted the photos and video footage, but it was a very successful launch and recovery of the balloon. We managed to reach an altitude of roughly 32.5km

It was quite a chase with the balloon changing direction every time we caught up to it, but thanks to all the amateur radio guys that came to help we managed to recover it.

More info soon, but here is a quick frame taken from the video when the balloon burst:

It was an awesome day!

Nice one guys!

For the fun of it, I took the ZS6MDV-3 data from aprs.fi and improved on the native Google Earth KML export which aprs.fi has for your flight by adding and converting the CSV export into a meta data rich KML flight path which includes time, location, speed and height at each recorded point in the flight path.

An example can be seen in the attached screen shot (and elevation profile) and I have also attached the KML file which one can open in GoogleEarth and interact with.

Congrats again and looking forward to any future flights!
