Subject: Bicycle Suitability Map meetings

The Charlotte area Regional Transportation Planning Organization is producing a CRTPO Bicycle Suitability Map. A bicycle suitability map uses a variety of data and local knowledge to determine a suitability rating for regional roadways. Cyclists use this map to help identify preferred routes which may best match the user’s comfort level cycling on local roads, or to know which roads are best to avoid. A similar map was produced in 1998 when the regional transportation planning organization was composed of only Mecklenburg and a portion of Union counties. Since then, the organization has grown to include all of Iredell County and additional areas of Union County which were not included in the previous map. Additionally, significant development and changes in the roadway network have made it necessary to produce a modern map which will meet the needs of cyclists in the three county region.

Please post and help distribute this notice to anyone you think would have an interest in attending any of the three drop-in meetings. Dates, times and places of the meetings are listed on the attached flyer.
