Bike lanes coming...to Ponce de Leon!

Once the street with the highest bike crash rate, a key section of Ponce de Leon Ave is getting a makeover. This month, buffered bike lanes will be installed on Ponce from Juniper to Ponce de Leon Place. Read more here.

Keep up with all the Atlanta bike projects by bookmarking this link, which we'll update as the $2.5 million project list moves forward.

Bike-Friendly Neighborhoods

We're building an Atlanta bicycling force--neighborhood by neighborhood. To do so, we need your help.

Please attend your neighborhood association meetings and voice your support for bike projects!

If you live in Castleberry Hill or Midtown, there are projects coming before your neighborhood association soon. Please email in...@atlantabike.org or visit our website to find out more about becoming a bike-friendly neighborhood liaison.

Results of North Decatur Road Audit

Last week we undertook a safety audit of North Decatur Road. In September, we'll release a report with recommendations for sidewalks, bike lanes, and more. We'll have a public session to report on the findings - details coming soon.

CNN recently visited our True Beginners bike class, where a 61-year-old woman learning to ride a bike said, "I feel like a kid. I was going down the hill, and I literally said 'whee!' When was the last time I got in my car and said 'whee!'?"

Want to learn to ride yourself--or share biking joy with a friend? Our classes will begin in September. Check our calendar for updates.

Bike valets opportunities include the Piedmont Park Arts Festival, Grant Park Summer Shade, and Decatur Book Festival. If you can donate a few hours to any of these, we'd greatly appreciate it - no training necessary.

Our Earn A Bike program is gearing up for fall classes, and volunteers are needed. Kids participate in a community project, take our bike safety class, and earn new bikes!

We'll be recording ATL cyclists' travel patterns in our biannual Fall Bike Counts September 9th - September 23rd. You can sign up for a two-hour shift in your neighborhood.
Stay tuned for a call to action on Connecting the City - Peachtree
