Hi BigQuery Developers!

The Google BigQuery engineering team has been hard at work adding new features based on the feedback that you have been providing. We've recently released the following updates:

Support for gzip Compressed Files
We've released support for one of our most requested features - the ability to ingest CSV files that are compressed with gzip. Currently, this feature supports ingestion of compressed files via Google Cloud Storage. We're working on adding the ability to ingest gzip compressed files uploaded directly from the BigQuery Browser Tool.

Data Ingestion Improvements
We've made several improvements to our input file ingestion pipeline. For example, CSV input files that BigQuery can't read are now detected faster during ingestion, helping to speed up your work.

BigQuery Browser Tool Improvements
We've added a 'show previous query results' option in the query panel. The current project view is now highlighted, and it's possible to refresh the current navigation panel by clicking the "refresh" option from the Projects drop-down menu.

We've also published a new article with additional tips on using the BigQuery Browser Tool:

We welcome your technical questions and feedback on the bigquery-discuss mailing list. Stay tuned for more updates!

Thanks,
Google BigQuery Team
