Hi

A I have understood it is much more easier and you avoid many problems if you use firstuser /home/firstuser/dev. Create a user with username firstuser give it sudo privileges and it will be more easy for you. Just my thinking

Did you edit the addresses manually or with "bbb-conf --setip"?  It looks like you maybe edited them manually and that might be causing your issues. It looks like the "--check" script can't find your server URL as it expects so I wouldn't be surprised if bbb-web couldn't find the correct value either.

When you want to change your server to use a different IP address or FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name) you should use the --setip command. See the documentation entry here, http://docs.bigbluebutton.org/install/install.html#bigbluebutton-does-not-load

The other thing to note is that if you are running a development version of the client --setip won't make changes to the config.xml file located in the dev directory. See, http://docs.bigbluebutton.org/dev/setup.html#connecting-to-the-server.

And finally, when starting out with BBB it is really important to take your time and make sure that the server works after every step along the way. When multiple steps are done at once it can be hard to determine where the fault lies. I would suggest going back to the packaged client for now until you have a working server again and once everything is working start on the development instructions for the client. To go back to the packaged client see this section, http://docs.bigbluebutton.org/dev/setup.html#switching-back-to-the-packaged-client

there is a http://bigbluebutton.web.serverURL=  in front of the dns .. it's like there is a problem here

Did you edit the address in bigbluebutton.properties manually or with "bbb-conf --setip"?

The property name is infront of the domain name because the bbb-conf script can't parse the file as expected. Try looking through the bigbluebutton.properties file for bad characters or paste the contents of the file to pastebin.com or a similar site and someone else might be able to find the problem.

Put the full contents of this link into /var/lib/tomcat7/webapps/bigbluebutton/WEB-INF/classes/bigbluebutton.properties.

Then run "bbb-conf --setip <FQDN>", where FQDN is likely "conference.bestcloud.pro".

Then change the salt value to something that isn't in a public repository by following these steps, http://docs.bigbluebutton.org/support/faq.html#how-do-i-change-the-shared-secret.

You don't want to ever edit the URLs that are in configuration files manually. --setip will handle all of that for you and make sure that everything is synced up.

Hi Andrea,

You've posted three messages in the last hour which suggests you believe  there is an implied service level agreement in these forums in that all questions are answered within X hours or Y days.

There is not.

Keep in mind that the members in these forums volunteer their time to help others.  There are over 1,800 members on this mailing list list, and posting three times in one hour just floods everyone's inbox with the same message.

You need to be patient and wait for a member to volunteer their time to help.

If you are unable to wait and require immediate assistance, we recommend you reach out to any of the companies that provide commercial support.

Regards,.. Fred

Check whether the salt value returned by "bbb-conf --salt" is the same as "cat /var/lib/tomcat7/webapps/demo/bbb_api_conf.jsp". If the values are different edit bbb_api_conf.jsp to match.

Run "bbb-conf --clean" then "bbb-conf --check". Paste the full results of "bbb-conf --check" back here. I'm not quite sure why web would report bbb-apps being down, but maybe there's something in --check.

I've never seen a BBB server return a 503 for create.jsp or join.jsp. The odd thing is that <ServerIP>/bigbluebutton/api returns the desired result so part of bbb-web is working correctly. From my brief googling it looks like there might be an error somewhere in the startup of the application so the place to look would either be in "bbb-conf --debug" or the tomcat logs. Unfortunately I don't know off the top of my head where the tomcat logs are located.

Often when the demos are showing 500 errors the cause is that someone used sudo when setting up the client development and bbb-web can't grab config.xml from the client, but in your case I can access the client files fine. I'm puzzled by this one.

Andrea,

I suggest replacing the bigbluebutton.properties file with original, and making modifications again.   I have fat fingered an extra == before and spent hours troubleshooting.

Also, since it takes 20 minutes to build a new server, if this does not work just wipe the disk and repeat the installation.

Stephen
