With a quick test this is what I've found so far:

OS Lenny Debian Linux
->Firefox 3.5.5 (last linux version)
->Flash Player version 10,0,32,18 installed
->Apache Tomcat 6.0.20
->Apache Active-MQ 5.2.0
->Red5 0.9 RC2
->Asterisk 1.4.25

1 - Webcam sharing -->OK (flash player asks for access to webcam and
it works properly)

2 - Desktop sharing --->NOK (same happens to my with previous version)
.. I can see applets and all that stuff with my current browser ...
but deskshare bbb does not work on my environment

3 - Voice Conference using Zoiper -->OK

4 - Join Voice conference with bbb flex client ---->NOK (player does
not ask for microfone access -- simply does nothing)

5 - Chat --->OK

6- Presentation --->NOK (same happens to me on previous version) -->
This is guess is related to firefox under linux problem....When file
is upload from flex interface...firefox explodes...conversion is
performed but always have to kill firefox process...

Hi Hugo

A few quick tests:

> but deskshare bbb does not work on my environment

You said you can see the applets, does that mean you get the Java
dialog asking for permissions. Just to be sure can you go to this
page

http://java.sun.com/applets/jdk/1.4/demo/applets/ArcTest/example1.html

If you can run the applet, do you see the desktop share thumbnail
running in the presenter's client?

For your microphone, can you try this URL (I googled Flash microphone
test)

http://www.msuconfuciusinstitute.org/scheduler/mictest.php

If your microphone doesn't work with this page, then it's likely a
problem with Flash.

Regards,.. Fred

Applet test is ok with above link. Fill and draw ... trigonometric circle.

Desktop sharing Applet does not ask me for permissions since first
time i used it ... i have to applied to allow always applets from this
host...(my localhost) so my machine runs applets and i don't have to
be asked for permissions when it provided my localhost.

Microphone works with that page.. I see the circle moving (and I'm
asked for permissions to acess microphone).
With previous version of bbb flex client, it works too on which I'm
asked about permissions to access microphone. Not working for me on
this release.

Hi Hugo,

Hmm... our reference implementation for installation of BigBlueButton
on Unix is Ubuntu 9.04, but it's clearly not working on your Debian
setup, which may be a difference in the OS or the setup itself. Would
you be willing to give us temporary remote access to your linux
machine so we could login and try to determine why its not working?
If you are willing to grant temporary access, please e-mail me
directly.

No worries if this isn't possible. As for removing permissions, on
Windows there is a Java control panel for its settings, including
trusted sites, and I would expect there is a similar setup on Debian.

Regards,... Fred

Hi Fred,

Right now I think is not possible to gave access to you...
I'll build an EC2 AMI instance running bbb for tests and when I have
i'll gave access to you..

I've enabled Java Applet Console Output....this is what I have there:

Java Plug-in 1.6.0_12

So applet is started and doing some work.... capturing the screen every X ms...
The problem is that on bbb flex interface ... DeskTopShare window
stays always with the initial image bbb logo and can do nothing with
it... stays like this forever

Where I can find the output of the screenshare applet or to check for
trace logs to see what's being done... Where can I find the recordings
? (my recording folder is always empty, the one setup by
bigbluebutton.properties war application)

This can be related with Xuggler? I have it installed, enviroment vars
setup up and it's working since I can use media tool and use the
capture screen example from the console.

No sure how to gave access to my laptop since I'm running on a private
network...

Any ideas on all of this? Thanks.

A clue ... if you are running this on Amazon EC2 you have to enable
access to the following ports (TCP) in the AMI's security group
(firewall):

9123 -- Desktop sharing
1935 -- Red5 (rtmp)
80 -- http

BigBlueButton should automatically tunnel rmpt and desktop sharing
through port 80, but try opening the above ports to see if it works.

Regards,... Fred

No I'm on EC2 right now... but I'll be tomorrow for sure.. at less I hope.
Red5 I've already tried it there .. .bbb not yet ... so the 9123 hint
was really helpful..
