Gamo Whisper Air Rifle in .22cal.
By Paul Kelsch
I bought the Gamo Air Rifle in .22 cal. and selected it for it's advertised "high" velocity. It seems very solid and well built. The scope seems of suprisingly high quality, mounts easily and so far holds it settings. There are two disappointing areas of performance, velocity and consistant accuracy. I tested the pellet velocity with my chronograph using 3 different pellet types including the "gold Raptors" that came with the gun. The highest velocity using the "raptors" was 855fps (a 3 shot string measured 855; 711 and 770 fps). A 3 shot string of Gamo "Rocket" pellets...lead with a steel tip, measured 673; 595 and 678fps. A 4 shot string of Benjamin lead "Hunting" pellets measured 671; 724; 723; and 728. As can be seen, velocity varies VERY widely from shot to shot, and nowhere came close to what was advertised. Accuracy off a sand bag rest on a table at a range of (measured) 60ft. using the scope is pretty good. As noted, the scope holds zero well. However, the gun
produces a very tight group of 5-6 shots in the bullseye, and then another tight group about 3-4 inches from the first with no change in aim point. I'm guessing, but this inaccuracy may be due to the wide variations in velocity. In short the gun is well made and fun to shoot, but don't plan on using it for competition. Paul in Maryland

Gamo Whisper air rifle 22
By Shaun
I have not had a chance to use the gun too much yet but what I have noticed so far I like. It feels lighter than the Crosman Nitro Venom Dusk .177 that I bought. It only took about 15 shots or so to zero it in. The Crosman used up a can of their ammo before it got zerod in. Please forgive my spelling. The .177 can take more shots to kill a Pigeon if not hit just right. this 22 seems to do it in 1 shot. I have only hunted 1x with it, but that is what some other reviews on 22 vs .177 seem to be saying. It is on the quiet side. You can hear the spring go off. I think the Crosman is a little bit quieter. This one kicks back less than the Crosman. I would say this is a good gun to have.

Love it! Fun rifle.
By TimmyC
I've sent many pellets at many targets with this little jewel. I've had ZERO problems with the gun and even less problems with the scope. The secret to mounting the scope correctly is to RTFM and have some basic mechanical common sense. It's dead nuts on at 25 yards and can hit a can at 80 yards after accounting for gravity. Fun stuff!
