Daisy Avanti 853CM air rifle: Description
- The Avanti 853CM shoots 10 fps slower than the standard 853 Legend. The classic NRA Junior competition rifle! Ideal for shooters 16 and up (with adult supervision) to learn to shoot in 10-meter competition. The rifle has a Monte Carlo synthetic stock that's capped with a removable buttpad to allow for the included insert spacers to adjust the length of pull for the shooter's size. Most impressive is the crowned Lothar Walther barrel. It's precision-bored for .177 match pellets, has 12 lands and grooves, and a right-hand twist. It also has a double barrel weight. The front sight has interchangeable aperture inserts, and the rear diopter sight is micrometer adjustable. The included sling helps the shooter steady the rifle. This competition model is so accurate that most shooters will not outgrow the rifle's potential. Although official competition rules do not allow scopes, the rifle has a dovetail scope mount in the diecast receiver in the event you want to use it for

Daisy Avanti 853CM air rifle

The Daisy Avanti 853CM air rifle is just like the rifles used for AFJROTC Rifle Teams. The Air Force paid hundreds of dollars more for the same rifle. Ours is even a tad better in the trigger department. It's great to use for practicing for Rifle competitions. In the words of all who have used it SWEET!

Check the workmanship

I spent 3 days (total about 6 hours) trying to troubleshoot why I couldn't sight in the rifle. I discovered that the front sight tube was not assembled correctly at the factory. The front of the barrel is round, but, there is a flat area behind it for the two set screws that secure the sight base tube. Whomever assembled my son's rifle set the first set screw on the round part of the tube and proceeded to tighten the back set screw. The front sight was canted over just enough so the rear sight was out of range. I ended up popping the retaining clip on the rear sight while trying to initially sight it in before discovering the problem. I'm in the process of obtaining replacement parts. Also, the trigger creeps, but, there are quite a few web sites on line with trigger modifications.
