The Umarex Surge is Awesome

I received a Umarex Surge break barrel pellet rifle from Amazon today and put a more than a hundred rounds through it over a four hour period. The first ten shots went supersonic and sounded like a .22 caliber gunpowder rifle, but then the report became acceptable. After about one hundred pellets the Umarex Surge quieted down and became easier to cock.
It's actually quite easy to cock when you learn to properly grasp the muzzle brake then firmly rest the rubber shoulder stock on your thigh when cocking it. I believe the cocking effort for the Umarex Surge is rated between twenty-five and thirty pounds which is average for a break barrel pellet rifle. Anyway, I did not mount the scope and rings that came with the Umarex Surge. Instead I am using a Barska scope and Leapers offset mount that I purchased from Amazon prior.
Okay, for the accuracy... It's amazing!
After approximately one hundred pellets through the barrel, I got a few quarter size
groups at twenty yards. That is the first time that I have ever accomplished that with a new break barrel spring piston pellet rifle and it keeps getting better. Not only does it shoot accurately right out of the box, it's consistent and dependable.
I know that I have only had this pellet rifle for one day, but I am astounded at the quality, accuracy and ease of use. Just grab the the muzzle brake and quickly yank the barrel down then insert a pellet. Snap the barrel back into position, release the automatic safety with a gentle push of your thumb, then pull the trigger and boom! A direct shot through the center of your target at twenty or thirty yards!
The Barska 3-9X 40mm scope is an excellent choice for the Umarex Surge and it's finger adjustable:

Great Air Rifle

This air rifle is very well made. It was easy to assemble. The scope and brackets worked perfectly. The scope was easy to adjust and took very little time to put three holes in a quarter size target @ 45-50 feet. The only drawback is it is still a bit noisy, I hope that will improve. The rifle is priced very good considering the quality.

Great air rifle

Great rifle, everything was as listed. I was surprise of the weight, a lot heavier than the little Crossman I've been using for years. The Umarex is definitely built solid and will last forever. The first 2 shots were loud and the third was supersonic and sounded like a .22. Fortunately by the 10th round or so the gun quieted down a bunch. I read some reviews that said the scope was junk; I think its fine; remember it's a $100 gun with a scope, of course the scope isn't going to be top of the line. Within minutes of mounting the scope I had it sighted in at 20yds. I really like this air rifle, the biggest surprise is that at 20yds the lead pellets go right through 3/8" plywood and would still imbed into wood behind that. I can't wait to get some pigeons in the cross hairs. **Update: I love this rifle. I was able to hit a pigeon at 30+yards. My only complaint is that it doesn't have open sites. Also note, the size of this gun plus the scope makes it look like a deer rifle. The
neighbors probably think this is a .22 rim fire (size and sound). **Update #2: I shoot a round clean through 3/4 inch plywood - crazy powerful air rifle!
