Full metal construction makes for a very realistic gun
By David Woodward
I haven't used it much yet because I didn't realize it didn't come with a battery or charger. So, I plugged in an 8.4V from another gun to test it out in semi-auto mode and it worked fine. I'm a little scared to do much more though because the manual says use a minimum of 9.6V. I only tried the 8.4V because several retailers online list it as being compatible with 8.4, 9.6, and 11.1 (LiPo) batteries. But I don't want to push it in case the manual is right about the minimum.
So, now I've ordered the following 11.1V battery charger and tester.
Combo: Tenergy 1-4 Cells Li-PO/Li-Fe Balance Charger with 11.1V Tenergy 1600mAh 20C LiPO Battery Pack for Airsoft Gun
Lithium Polymer Battery Power Level Tester and Alarm Li PolyTenergy LiPo Battery Power Level Tester & Alarm
Once I get them and actually go through a clip or two I should have a better idea of how well the gun works, but thus far its awesome. The build quality is top notch, the
full metal design makes for a very realistic gun, and judging from the web searches I've performed so far it seems like there are plenty of options available for anyone who wants to update the gun.
For example I've also ordered a replacement flash hider to get rid of the red tip (JG Metal Birdcage Flash Hider [M07C11][10592 / JG0516T-FLASH] - legal in Alabama, but not available on Amazon - check your local laws).
I don't even know if that fits the gun or not, but it was only $6 and I was tired of researching from the battery ordeal. So, I'll update everyone if that doesn't work too. At the very least its going to be a pain to get the old flash hider off the gun. I think they used red loctite on it or something.
Anyway, I love it so far. I'm pretty new to Airsoft though and added this to my wish list on a whim with the hopes someone with more disposable income than myself would get it for me... And they did! So, naturally I'm thrilled with it (not
having had one before), but I wouldn't know if there are better options out there.
The only possible "con" I can think of is that the barrel is a little loose on the vertical axis. Not horribly, but enough that you notice the play in it when you hold the gun vertically and shake it a little front to back. Perhaps that's common for these guns. Once again, I wouldn't know.
Overall I'd say if you can afford it, go for it.
