I still prefer Ecotect to use as a third-party interface for
EnergyPlus, although the versatile plugin of OpenStudio for Google
Sketchup may be preferable for some people.

But the good news is that now students can download Autodesk Ecotect
2011 for free:

You should first join the the Education Community, with your real
information!, and then you are enabled to download some programs, like
Ecotect 2011, for free. You will then get the codes via E-mail and for
sure you should not distribute the software that is licensed to you.

I have tested it from Vienna. Just let us know if there are problems
in some countries.
