My shower sump drain is clogged. I put some drano type liquid in it his weekend to no avail. Is there a better way to open it up up and unclog it.
I was going to try a small drain roto router type mechanism next.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

I had a problem with my shower drain after our granddaughter took a shower. I assume hair is the problem. I am going to use an old method: some vinegar, baking soda and hot water to see if that works.

Don’t ever use drano on a boat!!!

There is a removable screen filter ..find it and clean it out!

(Probably under the bathroom sink…)

My experience is that hair often gets caught in the small slot on the inlet side of the filter before rhe water enters the screen area. A small all  with a 90 end will remove the hair. Just remove the jose at the inlet end of the filter. It will be plugged there.

There is no sump on my 473. Straight hose to filter then pump. filter is under the sink. Needs cleaning on a regular basis for shower to drain properly..

I would try a wet-dry vac, the larger the better. The try to reach through to the drain to pull out the clog. If you have a removeable strainer, take that out first. If that doesn't work, then go to the chemicals.

Save your self a lot of time.

Take the hose off the outlet side of the filter. Turn on the pump.  Put your thumb over the hose.  Is there suction? If so put it back on. Take the other side off. SUCTION?

I can almost guarantee that the area at the hose in the filter between the shower pan and the filter is clogged.

Takes two minutes and you will know where the problem is.

They have plastic strips with barbs for $2 at hardware stores that might work starting at the drain.

On my 2007 373, I had low flow problems for years.  Last year disassembled the drain line and determined that there was silicone in the line from the original installation.  Cleared out and it's finally working well.

Related question. The on/off float switch in the aft head shower on my 46 is broken. Where do I find a replacement and is there anything tricky about installing it?

Thanks in advance
