The mooring cleats uswd on 411 423 73 and 461 seem to often split the teak rail cap.
I am told this is often due to the aluminum spacer which fill the large void in the rail.
I have read the aluminum corroded, as it breaks down the cleat allows the rail to split..not sure why.
Would Delrin spacers machined on a lathe work better? I think as they are under compression Delrin would be strong enough.
Coating the bottom side of the teak and the hole with west epoxy would seal it all to water.
Any thoughts or experience on this?
