Dear all
I'm tring to set a BDSIR model (96 sequences-700nt long-serilly sampled)  but I always obtain the following message:
Start likelihood: -Infinity after 11 initialisation attempts
P(posterior) = -Infinity (was NaN)
    P(prior) = -Infinity (was NaN)
        P(BirthDeathSkySerial.t:Seq_Pcv2a) = -362.1885477869971 (was NaN)
        P(R0PriorS.t:Seq_Pcv2a) = -16.30738630443746 (was NaN)
        P(becomeUninfectiousRatePriorS.t:Seq_Pcv2a) = -9.189385332046724 (was NaN)
        P(GammaShapePrior.s:Seq_Pcv2a) = -1.0 (was NaN)
        P(KappaPrior.s:Seq_Pcv2a) = -1.8653600339742873 (was NaN)
        P(MutationRatePrior.s:Seq_Pcv2a) = 0.0 (was NaN)
        P(origRootPriorS.t:Seq_Pcv2a) = -6.907755278982137 (was NaN)

    P(likelihood) = NaN (was NaN)
        P(treeLikelihood.Seq_Pcv2a) = NaN (was NaN)
    P(fossilCalibrations) = 0.0 (was NaN)

I've tried with different priors and fixing some parameters but apprently nothing change
does anybody has encountered a similar problem?
thanks

Dear Geo,

This sometimes happens when your initial tree height is larger than the origin value. Have you tried setting the initial origin value to something large?

Cheers

Denise
