GSoC 2015 EXI idea

Hello.

My name is Piotr, I'm studying Computer Science at AGH, Cracow. I would like to participate in GSoC and I'm very interested in your projects, mostly the part with MongooseIM. I have some previous experience with Erlang, I wrote some small programs during my university course, I've also attended Lambda Academy so I'm familiar with MongooseIM. Could you please give me some further information about application and skills required to take part in this project?

Hello Piotr,

Welcome to the BEAM community mailing list. Your previous experience from Lambda Academy should be just enough to get you started and the MongooseIM team can support you during the summer.

You will need to familiarise yourself with concepts behind EXI [1]. You can start by installing a GUI tool [2] and experimenting with some XML documents. Your project could either implement native EXI support in Erlang or adopt one of the existing C libraries [3].

The next step is to agree with your mentor to what extent XEP-0322 should be implemented [4].
