Dear Bay Area Population Genomics Community,

Now in its fourteenth year, BCATS (Biomedical Computation At Stanford) is a one-day scientific conference taking place on Stanford’s campus on Thursday, January 30th 2014. This symposium provides an open, interdisciplinary forum for students and post-docs around the San Francisco Bay Area to share their latest work. The day highlights current research by students and post-docs in computational biology and medicine. Universities represented in the past have included Stanford, UC Berkeley, UC San Francisco, UC Santa Cruz, and UC Davis. Registration is free for academic affiliates, and students and post-docs are encouraged to apply to give a talk or a poster.

Submissions for BCATS 2014 are now being accepted at: http://bcats.stanford.edu

  • Abstract submission deadline for Talks and Posters: January 10, 2014

  • There will be awards given for the best talks and posters. Prizes in past years have included iPods, a handheld PC, and a 30 inch LCD monitor

  • Registration Deadline to guarantee a free T-shirt: December 16, 2013

  • Symposium date: Thursday, January 30th, 2014

  • Keynote speakers:  David Van Essen (Washington University in St. Louis),  Katie Pollard (UCSF), and John Novembre (University of Chicago)

  • Registered participants can enter a lottery to have dinner with one of the keynote speakers!

Last year, BCATS presented the work of over 60 research projects to over 250 attendees from the scientific community. We hope you will join us for the fourteenth annual event. Possible topics presented at the symposium include:

  • Computational Genomics

  • Bioinformatics and Biostatistics

  • Population Genetics
