Does anyone know where I can get a NEMA 17 triple stack locally?  I tried Weird Stuff and Halted.

Thanks,
Ken

From the spec sheet, they have 96oz/in vs the 76oz/in of the kysans and the 68oz/in on the 0.9deg steppers that I bought.

What is this for, ken?

Yep, that's a triple stack, only $20 too.  Kysan has one about the same for $25.

Elliot, I drilled out the 0.35 hotend to 0.6 and the extruder with the 0.9 degree stepper is still misstepping.  I'll try the triple stack with it, but in the end I think I'm going to use the extruder with 1.75mm filament.  I don't like the curl in the tubing for the 3mm bowden too.  With a large printer, it could really be a pain to deal with.  I'm generally not a fan of 1.75mm filament, but in this case I think it is the way to go.

Did you make any modifications to your extruder for use with 1.75 or is it good to go?

One more thing, where's a good place to get bowden tubing for 1.75mm filament?  I want to be able to specify the length I want.

Ken,

I think that 1.75 is probably the way to go, too.  Let me know if you'd like me to buy the 0.9deg motor back, and/or buy the e3d hotend from you.

I'll fiddle with the parameters of the extruder and try get it for you tomorrow night.

Elliot,

Looks like I don't need the 0.9deg motor, so I can bring it tonight if you want to buy it back.  I know you're making more printers.  I'll order a E3D 1.75mm extruder now.  You can buy my 3mm one.  Do you want me to bring it to the meeting tonight?

Ken,

Is your extruder a direct pinch wheel drive or a geared extruder?

I've been playing with overextruding lately with a standard sized nozzle and getting very interesting results.

It's a direct pinch with a MK8 hobbed pulley.  I adapted Elliot's direct drive extruder to a Bowden.

Bill,

Yes, I've been looking at McMaster, but what size and material?  They have 2mm ID.  Is that large enough?

Yes. I used the 2mm id tubing for 1.75 filament.

Its not the cheapest motor but I am running this on my setup and it has been amazing. Smooth and super strong due to the gearing. Never misses a step. I bought mine from this same seller here: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Kysan-5-18-1-Planetary-Geared-Stepper-Motor-3D-Printer-RepRap-Kossel-Nema17-/181435052637?hash=item2a3e5f325d

You could try Power Mate in Santa Clara. That's where Sam from Kysan referred me when he was out of stock a few months ago. They let me do local pickup:

Here's the link I used at the time for the normal NEMA17 Kysan: http://www.pmtusa.com/product.sc?productId=9&categoryId=5
