Max Marchi and Jim Albert have a new book out, called Analyzing Baseball with R. They also started a blog on the subject: http://baseballwithr.wordpress.com/

I'm not finished with it but I can confirm: it IS awesome. Highly recommended.

I owe the last few fun weeks of learning R to this google group. Thanks Chris and everybody. This is a game changer for me.

Wow! Thanks for advertising my package :)

I wrote a paper that was just accepted for publication -- http://journal.r-project.org/archive/accepted/sievert.pdf

There are some good snippets on how to use dplyr to query a PITCHf/x database. You can find some more snippets here -- http://cpsievert.github.io/slides/pitchRx/20140303/

Also, you might want to keep an eye on http://baseballwithr.wordpress.com/ as I will start contributing in a couple of weeks :)
