For Information:

Consumers can now make online payment for the cooking gas or LPG cylinders at the time of booking.

This facility was launched on Sunday by Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. "Launched 'Online payment facility' for LPG refill to bring consumer convenience, transparency & cashless transaction," Pradhan tweeted.

Earlier, only online booking facility was available for customers of oil marketing companies (OMCs) namely Indian Oil, Hindustan Petroleum and Bharat Petroleum and consumers were required to pay cash to vendor on delivery of cylinders.

"PSU OMCs have now introduced the online payment facility for consumers at the time of booking their LPG refill cylinder so that they need not worry about leaving cash with their family members or attendants while taking delivery of the cylinder," an official statement said.

This facility would bring great relief to the working couple as well as to senior citizens as they can make the payment online without bothering to keep adequate cash at home, it added. The payment facility can be availed at www.mylpg.in which can be accessed in 13 Indian languages.

The OMCs have already implemented the refill booking facilities on IVRS, Web and SMS, portability of Gas connection, direct benefit transfer of subsidy for LPG to the bank account of consumers. The minister also said that he has asked OMCs to offer easy instalment scheme for new LPG connection, open 10,000 new distributors in 2016 and add 10 crore new consumers by 2018 on the occasion.

Dear Sir

In our town (Puttur DK . Karnataka),  the supply boys are insisting to pay Rs. 15/- extra for door delivery (Rs. 20-25 at some places) even though we are with in town limits.

Is it the common practice every where  AND are we need to pay this ?. If we reject we fear of non delivery for long.
With regards
Suresh Bhat M

Dear Mr Suresh Bhat,
This practice of collection of some Tips by delivery boys at the time of Cylinder Delivery  is a practice followed in general may be in other places too .In remote places it may be more some time.
As per Gas Agencies.there will not be any charges for delivery of Gas Cylinders within a radius of 0.5 Km.Still customers make payment as you said in last para.

Dear Sri Bhat,

This practice is everywhere. Now the general public is accustomed to it. The extra charges [tips] range from Rs.10/- to Rs.50/- here, in my place. We have heard about "Law and Practice". Therefore, even if you pay the cost on-line, you have to pay this tips for a smooth delivery. We are all responsible for these practices in every field.

It is not reqired to pay. We are just making it as a practice. Started with one rupee and now gone up to 10 in Hyd.
We have to ask the Oil Company to Print " NO TIPS TO DELIVERY BOYS / ONGAS CYLINDER DELIVERY" to bring a change in the mind set of the workmen and the Gas Distributor.

When cash on delivery system is there and there is no guarantee when delivery of refill will be made after payment , I feel this will add further tension when the delivery will be made
Moreover Oil Companies will get huge amount without interest. It is better Oil Cos should ensure 1st come 1st serve basis for delivery of refill
Another menace is delivery boys demand tips and if it is not given they mark door closed and booking get cancelled. Let these problems addressed first

Dear Sri Nagaraju,

Here in Mangalore, we find the words "NO TIPS PLEASE" in capitals at the bottom of the Bill!!

You can see the reaction of the delivery man if you point it to him!

Dear friends,
There is another problem with cylinder delivery.Usually sealed cylinders are delivered. When we start using the cylinder starts leaking and this happens when we are in the process of cooking.Consequently the cooking for that gets spoiled and the embarrassment is unbearable if some guests are there in the house. It happened twice in our case. The reason given is "faulty Washer"I am unable to understand how the cylinders are sealed and delivered leaving leaky washer. This is a very serious lapse. The delivery staff takes it very light Eventhough it is very dangerous. We should insist that he fits the new cylinder to the gas stove and demonstrates that it is not leaking.

If you don't pay tips he may leave the cylinder at the doorstep or ask the old people to bring empty cylinder from inside. Moreover these people do unholy business of selling a part of the gas to some middlemen. As per Supreme Court Verdict they have to weigh and deliver the cylinder.Who implemented this Judgement?
With regards,
P B Sarma.
