Hello,

BBCh 2018 (10 Races) - RACE FREE FOR WOMEN!

We had started this in our last season and would like to continue this time also. It's a fun stuff. It's all about to see how committed one really is and works also in a very simplistic way.

Women rider has to register for the individual race and need to pay required registration fees.
IF THEY TURN UP AND RACE, then ONLY entire registration fees would be refunded to the participant's account in 5-7 working days after the event.

Try this cool opportunity yourself and bring along all your fellow female riders to have fun together.

Transgenders?

What if someone considers herself a woman but shows the physical manifestations of a man? Is there a policy in BBCh as to what race that person can race in?

Following links for reference, as to what I am talking about :)

Regards
Chiddu

Thanks for bringing up that topic Chiddu. Agree that there should be some clear understanding & policy in place for this issue in anticipation. While there are reported cases of this worldwide, really wonder what should be the mechanism to verify it at the first place and then put the actions together ! It may be a distant future but can't ignore at the inception.

thank you & regards

suman

Women's category is a reserved (more restrictive) category. Allowing transgenders to compete with women will be like allowing adults who are young at heart to compete with juniors.

A reserved category is created in every field as and when there is a sizable number of people who would be disadvantaged by fitting into a less restrictive category or its existence crucially depends on a sub-categorization.

Creating a transgender category in sports will be like creating a separate category for 90+ (for people older than 90). May be, there are other fields that calls for a separate category for them. Otherwise, I believe that they should be able to compete with men in every field, even physical.

A more restricted category is also sometimes created to encourage a a large group of people who are otherwise not making the cut into the field. Chess is a typical example. Even though woman can be as good as man in chess, the fact that very few women come up to the top level in chess and women are half the worlds population, a restricted category is created. This does not however stop any woman from competing with men in Chess as there is no men's category. There is only an open category which also happens to be the only category where men can compete in.
