Performance Issues?

I am having some performance issues for one of the Excel files I trying to create with this gem. The data is about 60 columns wide, and when it gets longer than about 400 rows it starts to take a long time to finish. I am using the add_worksheet, and then add_row as I iterate through the data.

What can I try to make it go faster?
