Arbitrary graphics overlays

Knock knock, hope there is still someone around that could help. I've dug up and dusted Axiis as I'm stuck with a pre-Flex4 app without access to the built-in charting. I've used the Axiis components to create a chart from data. Now I want to annotate it with vertical lines to indicate events along the horizontal (time) axis. Is there a recommended way of doing this that would automatically calculate for instance the correct position along the horizontal axis given a value in the same domain as the data's horizontal axis ?
