I'm hosting a productivity session this Sunday as part of a global LessWrong-related event. Come do that thing you've been procrastinating on, and feel much better afterwards!

The following info is duplicated from https://www.facebook.com/events/1757071367864317.

Personal Hackathons are days designed for maximum productivity. They're also called "Get Stuff Done" days. For more info, see http://www.personalhackathon.com/.

"Hackathon" in this case doesn't refer to coding. Well, you can code. But you can also hack on yourself. Or whatever! Do something meaningful! There's a list of ideas below.

As part of Malcolm Ocean's Complice Custom Scheduled Room public launch, people are hosting Personal Hackathons globally this weekend. For more info, see https://www.facebook.com/events/1171705379568700/.

WHAT TO DO
What you can do is practically limitless. Here are a few examples:
- Process email inbox completely down to zero
- Advance a critical work project
- Prepare job applications
- Read through backlogged documents
- Write out life plan and life goals
- Begin tackling a life goal (e.g., learning a new language or writing a book)
- Set up financial accounts
- Take practice exams

PROCESS
1. Form a small group of similarly committed people.
2. Commit to a date, time, and location to get stuff done.
3. Decide on what you want to accomplish.
4. Arrive on time fully prepared to get stuff done.
5. Work as intensely as you possibly can for every work cycle.
6. Actively rest during the breaks.
7. Celebrate after you're done!

SCHEDULE
11:45am - Arrive and set up work areas
12:00pm - Personal Hackathon overview
12:15pm - Focused work cycle #1
1:00pm - Lunch
1:50pm - Group stretching and exercise in the Sky Lounge
2:00pm - Focused work cycle #2
3:30pm - Active break
3:50pm - Focused work cycle #3
5:20pm - Group check in
5:30pm - Active break
5:40pm - Focused work cycle #4
6:25pm - Group review of accomplishments
6:30pm - Participants depart

WHAT TO BRING
- Bring a laptop, notebook, books, or whatever you'll be working on. There is WiFi.
- Snacks and beverages will be provided, but bring something for lunch.
- The room is kept at 71 F. Dress accordingly.

BEFORE COMING, NOTE:
- RSVP for the parking gate code.
- Drive up the hill, following signs for the office. Turn right after the flags.
- We will meet in the clubhouse on the 2nd floor of the main building, right above the leasing office.
- If a majority of people can't make the 11th but would come on the 18th, I'm open to rescheduling.

Looks like fun. I plan on attending.

How much space will there be? Like can I bring my Desktop and two monitors, or should I stick to just a laptop?

There's space for about 11 people, in a variety of settings like 1-person tables, maybe 2-person tables, and a many-person table, as far as I remember. I don't have a laptop, so I'm going to bring up my desktop. >:) I don't see a problem with your doing the same, but if we get 9+ attendees, there may not be space for your second monitor unless you get creative.

Cool.

What's the plan for lunch? Are there restaurants nearby, or should I bring something?

There aren't any good, fast restaurants close enough for convenience. I will be providing snacks, but bringing something additional for lunch would be best.

There is a Subway right across 2222, actually.

I'm interested, but as it's 9 miles from where I live (Hyde Park) and I don't have a car, it'll be a little difficult. Probably 45+ mins there, 60+ if I don't want to sweat (as much). If anyone going can give me a car ride if I'm on their way, or would be interested in doing a group bike ride from Hyde Park, let me know.

I should be able to carpool from Hyde Park, in case anyone else in the area is in a similar predicament.
