Can I use partitioning in titan 0.5.4/cassandra?

I have a 0.5.4 on a cluster of 20 machines, which has hotspots caused by super nodes (that is far too positive name for these things).

Can I use partitioning in titan 0.5.4 / cassandra?

I expect someone will say upgrade to Titan 1.x.x, and that is on the map but not for this installation.
