Quicker graph creation

When calling TitanFactory.open('<<config file>>'), we're seeing that the operation takes upwards of a minute to complete. Looking at the logs, it seems like it disables then enables the hbase table it's creating 8 separate times.

Is this normal for it to take this long? And if so, why does it need to toggle the table so many times? Is there a way to configure this to happen faster, and if so, what sort of dangers or race conditions would that expose?
