Big Red z-axis?

Big Red doesn't seem to be auto focusing. This is my first time using this laser, so I may be missing a basic step, but when I go to play the job, the tray stays down at the bottom, almost 3 inches from the cone. Any thoughts?

I was able to get some help, and it's working again! turns out some very small round cut-scraps were jammed around the edges, it just needed a bit of clean-up.
