This Week in the Education Department

Cleaning up the Classroom, June 1st through 8th

The cleanup and restoration of the classroom is well underway!   With the help of Rob R, Alex O, Matt G, and others we have the carpet cleaned, and paint up on the walls.  It's been a lot of work, but well worth it.

Here's a 3D preview of what our classroom will ( hopefully ) look like when it's done:

New Class Signup Software

We now have new software setup to schedule classes!  We are using setmore, and the direct URL is:

https://atxhs.setmore.com

I have integrated our setmore.com account with Google Calendar.  The integration only updates once every few hours, so for the absolute up-to-date info, make sure to head to the main setmore site.  It will show times when the classroom is booked, as well as a general schedule of classes. The calendar is on the wiki here.

ATX Hackerspace at Thinkery21: Come & Make It on Thursday, August 24 from 7-10pm.

We have been cordially invited to come to the Thinkery21 event called "Come and Make it" on August 24th by the Associate Director of Programs for the Thinkery.

They are looking to have us show off things made at the hackerspace,
exploring making in its many forms. They are especially interested in any makers who have a hands-on interactive component to what they do, or have a way to encourage attendees to do making during the event.

We will be bringing the CircuitScribe "How to make a PCB" demonstration, as well as either the X-Carve or a Carvey to show off how fast something can go from an idea to a CNC'ed object.

If you have an interactive, educational, or interesting thing you want to bring and show, email me ( dean@ ) or David ( pr@ ) so we can make arrangements for you to come and attend.

Thinkery21 is a really fun event to attend, with drinks, food, and they have covered a lot of interesting subjects such as:
Ink, Beer, Science of Sex, Senses, Forensics and Color.
