New in Austin, looking forward to meeting members!

Hello, 

My name is Alison, I go by Alison or Alison Starfox. 

I am hoping to swing by the space tomorrow to the Open House since I am not a member, although I might change my mind and join. :) 

I'm hoping to take classes in PHP, JavaScript, and Python (if there are any meetup groups here, I'd be interested in joining them). I am also interested in robotics, although I've never built anything myself.

Hi Alison,

As it so happens, The Robot Group meets at the hackerspace regularly. This Thursday, in fact, is out next meeting. We'll be in the classroom starting at 7:30, though I try to get there a bit early. Also, This upcoming Sunday, being the second Sunday of the month, will be another installment of the Raspberry Pi as a Robotics Platform workshops I present to The Robot Group. Also at the hackerspace at 6:00. We use Python for programming the Raspberry Pi. You can see more about the workshops at http://therobotgroup.org/introduction-robotics-raspberry-pi/

At the bottom of that page is a link to my GitHub with all of the workbooks to date. The workshops are free and open to the public as part of our non-profit mission to promote STEM education through robotics.

I look forward to meeting you on Thursday or Sunday, should you choose to check us out.

Hello Alison,

As Jeff mentioned, the Robot Group is the ideal Meetup group if you are interested in robotics.

Feel free to visit the Hackerspace on our Open House day on Tuesday and get a tour and meet some of our members. We have lots of cool equipment and tools and classes that will teach you how to use them.

We also have members who are fluent in the languages you are interested in and would be happy to help you out with any questions.
