Presentation: Traits: PHP’s best feature that you aren’t using by Chase Peeler, Senior Software Architect at Onepath

Traits were introduced all the way back in version 5.4 and added a pretty powerful option to the developer’s tool belt. However, it seems as if very few people really understand them. As a result, most people just avoid them. In this talk, we will go over some of the ways that traits can be utilized to make your job easier and your code leaner, as well as some of the pitfalls to avoid.

About Chase: Chase is the Senior Software Architect at Onepath, the one source for all things to do with designing, deploying, and supporting technology – from cable to cloud. He's been using PHP for over 16 years, 11 of them professionally. In his current role, he leads Onepath’s development team in enhancing their internal web application/customer portal. Some of his accomplishments include implementing unit testing, transitioning to Git for version control, employing the use of Jenkins for CI, and designing a custom framework to help bridge the transition from a legacy system to a more maintainable one.
