Dear all,

The astropy v3.0 release candidate is now available and ready for testing. Please note that this version requires Python 3.5 or later, it doesn't  support Python 2 any more:

https://pypi.python.org/pypi/astropy/3.0rc1

We would appreciate if some of you could try out this RC and report back any success or failure via the following page:

https://github.com/astropy/astropy/wiki/v3.0-RC-testing

Please also open issues for each different type of failure (please check the issue tracker first to make sure no one has reported it first).

You should be able to install the RC by doing:

pip install astropy --pre

or

pip install astropy==3.0rc1

If you use conda, be sure to either remove the existing conda astropy package or make a new environment.

Dear all,

After fixing the issues with the previous edition, the new (and hopefully final) release candidate 3.0rc2 has been just released.

We would appreciate if you could again try it out and report back any success or failure via the RC testing wiki page, and please open github issues for any new kind of failures.
