Counter for development cycles

Hi, 

We would like to add an automation that count the number of a time a ticket receive a specific status and prevent it from going into another status if the counter reach a certain number. 

Did anyone tried this?

What is the best way to achieve this?

there is no way to prevent a ticket from going to another status
