Just a reminder that the CNC class to learn to use the Shapeoko CNC is this Thursday at 7:00pm. If you are planning to attend, please try to let me know so I have a general idea of how many people to expect (but if you are a last minute attendee, no problem). Also, it is not required but may be helpful if prior to the class you load the
Carbide Motion software on a laptop (just so you have it available to look at after we complete the class). In addition, this will not be class on CAD software (we will be offering those classes soon, but we will be going over where to make changes on that software in various settings. So, if you think you will be using
Fusion 360 for CAD, it might be worth downloading that before the class as well. Again, you won't need to bring a computer with Fusion 360 on it to class, but having it on our machine so you can go back and revisit some of the tings we talk about in class on your sooner rather than later might help it stick.
Note that Fusion 360 is free for enthusiasts like us - details
here.
Finally, just to avoid confusion, this class will be covering specifically the use of the Shapeoko CNC, not CAD design. Without being able to do CAD design, there won't be much you can actually do yet with the Shapeoko CNC. So, please plan on taking the CAD class when it is offered soon, and in the interim, there are tutorials for various CAD packages including Fusion 360 and members who would be happy to try to help you if you get stuck.
Thanks!
