So I just finished running off some stuff and decided to give the laser etching a pcb thing a go again. I actually got very good results. I was even able to cut/burn through the whole board. I think, with a lot of trial and error, and a little post-processing, we should be able to figure out how to do it.

We actually may have issues with removing too much material... As I said, when I pushed it (1mm/s at 70% power) it burned through the whole board. I think the best solution will involve very slow speeds and a good masking. Also possibly multiple passes. I did tape on top of the paint I put on that board way back when and that seemed to work pretty well but I want to try a high-temp paint next to see if that burns away less. Ideally we can even make pads by having some sections we just remove the masking off of.

Found this tonight...not sure if it might be helpful but it looks like it has potential:  http://www.instructables.com/id/Custom-PCB-Prototyping-using-a-Laser-Cutter/
