I was considering purchasing a small table top lathe, and was just wondering if anyone might have one to check out and use for a minute in the space or otherwise.

I could provide my own materials and chisels for such a thing, just trying to find a way to make sure it's what I need before making a purchase.

I've seen a couple used ones around up for purchase but not sure if I can justify just yet making the purchase.

Thanks.

Mentioning chisels makes me think "Wood lathe."

Carter concluded wood. Probably correct (although I always think of the sharp bits as "turning tools" regardless of material being cut).

I have an old Jet tabletop lathe which I have left at the space. Base, center, toolrest, and the odds and ends you need. If turning tools are used to cut it isn't really that messy. But if they mostly scrape it will kick up a lot of dust.

I will miss the next 2 Tuesdays (may be back for laser cut decorations day). So feel free to play, and Chabuku, feel free to take it home for a couple of weeks and see if it suits you.

Awesome! We can always build a semi-enclosure to at least contain the shavings and make cleanup easier.

Wow! Thanks! Somehow I didn't see this at all, perhaps I'm not subscribed via email or something.

I'll be trying it out.
