EACSOF SECRETARIAT ACCOUNTS, COMMUNICATION AND ADMINISTRATION INTERNSHIP POSITIONS 2015

Background

East African Civil Society Organizations’ Forum (EACSOF) is the all inclusive platform for CSOs in East Africa. It is the focal point for CSO engagement in EAC integration processes. It is registered in Tanzania as a regional NGO with its head office in Arusha.  EACSOF, which started with assistance from the East African Laws Society (EALS) enjoys formal cordial working relationship with the East African Community (EAC), the EAC Partner States and national, regional and international networks among them the Centre for Citizen Participation at the African Union (CCPAU), the African Centre for Civil Society (ACCS), the West Africa Civil Society Organizations’ Forum (WACSOF), the Southern African Development Council for NGOs (SADAC NGO) and African CSO on Platform on Principled Partnership (ACPPP).

According to the EAC CDF, EACSOF was mandated by stakeholders to represent CSOs at the EAC as the voice of civil society in integration processes. EACSOF Vision for East Africa is … “A community in which citizens are fully engaged in all affairs affecting their lives”.  EACSOF envisions a future for people built on self-determination, with citizens in control of the social, economic and political capital.  EACSOF Mission is ...” To Make EAC Integration Work for the Citizen”.  This is achieved by providing a platform for debate and dialogue, in order to facilitate people-centered integration and co-operation that is designed to promote equitable and sustainable development.

EACSOF seeks 3 interns to work in the Accounts, Communication and Administration Departments so as to accomplish EACSOF planned activities for the year 2015.

Accounts Intern

EACSOF intends to prepare its books of account for audit. The Audited reported is expected to be presented to the Governing Council and subsequently the General Assembly of the organization. In this regard, the Account Intern shall aid in undertaking the following:

  1. To prepare EACSOF monthly budget.
  2. To prepare the books Account of EACSOF and make them ready for auditing.
  3. To assist the Auditor who is auditing the prepared books of accounts that shall be presented to the Governing Council and later to the General Assembly during the Annual CSO Forum.
  4. To prepare monthly book of Accounts and financial reports
  5. To assist in the preparation of the budget for donors report
  6. To submit the completed assignment to the EACSOF Secretariat
  7. To advice management about finance matters
  8. Recording of member’s subscriptions and reconciling with bank deposits
  9. Prepare statutory return i.e. VAT, SDL, PAYE
  10. Payroll services, posting expenses, posting income and reconcile bank statements
  11. Any task that he/she may be assigned by the AG. CEO or other supervisor

 

Qualifications

Degree or Diploma in Accounting or CPA

 

Communications Intern

Duties

·         Increase EACSOF Brand visibility

·         Increase media coverage for EACSOF

·         Updating EACSOF Website.

·         Compiling, Design and circulation of EACSOF e- news, reports, newsletter and press releases to stakeholders

·         Updating and Maintaining Membership Database.

·         Computer Maintenance, Desktop and Internet Support

·         Updating the status on upcoming events and new information available on its website via Facebook, Twitter, email and Linked.

·   Undertaking factual research and documentation on issues regarding: EAC integration process, Human rights, Governance and Democracy, Social and Economic Development, Peace and Security, Environment and Natural resources, Science and Technology and CSO and activities in the region.

·   Prepare the draft bi-monthly e-newsletter on human rights, access to justice and good governance issues, civil society activities in the region and EAC integration process relevant to CSOs.

·   Contribute to the advocacy and publicity work of the EACSOF.

 

Qualifications

 

Degree or Diploma in IT and Knowledge in Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Indesign is an added advantage.

 

Administration Officer Intern

 

The Administrative Intern duties include the following:

 

·         Assist in undertaking factual research and documentation on various issues regarding EAC integration process.

·         Assist in preparation of the draft bi-monthly e-newsletter of EACSOF

·         Contribute to the advocacy and publicity work of the EACSOF.

·         Offer logistical and other technical support to the Forums’ conferences, workshops and other    activities.  

·         Preparation of periodic activity reports.

·         Assist in the design and development of EACSOF website and coordinating the Forum CSOs discourse Desk

·         Handle administrative tasks of EACSOF

·         Any other related duties as shall be assigned by the AG. CEO or other supervisor

·         Assist in Concept proposal writing

·         Keep the office safe and always functioning

 

Qualifications

Degree or Diploma in Human Resources Management, Business/ Public administration, Community Development or any other related qualification

REMUNERATION

 

EACSOF encourages the spirit of voluntarism. Interns will not be remunerated however transport allowance will be provided. Candidates from Arusha are strongly encouraged to apply.
