THE PURPLE BOX

School girls in Tanzania who cannot afford to buy pads miss an average of 20% of the school year because they are forced to stay at home during their menstrual cycle.

This leads many of them to eventually drop out of school. To compensate for pads, they are forced to use cow dung and leaves which pose a high risk of infection.

99% of schools in Tanzania also do not have soap in their bathrooms.

I, Naureen, am the founder of ‘The Purple Box’.  I have started this project with the aim of collecting and providing free pads to girls and young women who cannot afford to buy them.

There is a Purple Box at the following locations in Arusha.

Sable Square Supermarket (outside the main door)
Stop & Shop (near Impala Hotel)
Sakina Supermarket (Njiro, just before the railway)

Simply purchase a packet of pads (any brand) and place them in the box before leaving the store.
All your kind donations will go to girls in need who live in and around Arusha.

For anyone who might feel uncomfortable handling pads, please feel free to drop in a bar of soap instead (any brand).  99% of schools in Tanzania also do not have soap in their bathrooms.

Thank you for your support.

For any further information or larger donations of pads, please do not hesitate to contact me on:
