Released by The Hindu’s Special Publications Division as the first in its history series, the book is a compilation of the historian Nilakanta Sastri’s articles in the newspaper between 1930 and 1961, curated by A. Srivatsan, former Senior Deputy Editor, The Hindu .

Presenting the keynote address, Prof. Champakalakshmi said there was no dispute over Nilakanta Sastri’s greatness as a historian and that his book on the Cholas could not be replaced even though so many other books have been written about them.
