PICKERING -- There is an urgent need for safer storage of Pickering’s historical documents in order to make sure the past remains in the present and the future.
Photographs, videos, newspapers dating back to 1881, art, and birth, death, marriage and cemetery records, are scattered all over the city, from the library to the Pickering Museum Village, to City Hall, to the basements of members of the Pickering Historical Township Society.
Library staff, City and museum staff, and members of the Historical Society, feel a permanent storage solution for all of these documents under the same roof is needed in the future.
