I have a lot to say here, but everyone please at least read the first sentence of each paragraph.

The Networking Party: Wednesday 4/13, 5:30PM to 8PM at the Science Center, 2nd floor.  FB page:  https://www.facebook.com/events/1678753982375828/. It's not in my notes, but parking in the main lot should be free, as is the case for First Fridays.  Load-in starts at 4:30PM. This is specifically an adult event, kids are not prohibited, but there really won't be anything for them to do. Teens might be an exception (more later).

The Networking Party's purpose is for people to get a better idea of what Bright Idea's is and learn how they might participate.  It's open to everyone, from crafters with stuff to sell, and hobbyists that are just curious, so invite your peoples. I left some flyers on the tables at AR, feel free to pick some up and pass them around.

AR at the Networking Party:  we'll bring the show box and do a thing not unlike First Friday, but maybe smaller scale and more roaming and engaging.  Primary focus is promoting Bright Ideas, our display will be more of an idea of what one might see at the event.  We've been requested to do a shift at the info table, you don't need any Bright Idea's experience to do this, there will be a FAQ sheet.

Bright Idea's Expo:  Free event, July 16, all day, load in times to be announced. Parking will not be free, but presenters will get a parking pass, so if you're helping out make sure to get one the day of.  This year is a little different than previous, things will be organized into
"pods" of like-themes, but will still have some scattered tables and dedicated workshop and class rooms.  we'll learn more about this at the networking party and future organizer meetings.  AR will likely be represented in multiple pods as long as there's enough people willing to man the demos.  The pod concept comes from Craft Monster Market, which was first tried at Green With Indie this year and will be improving.

Craft Monster Market will be heavily involved.  Craft Monster Market is new, it's grown out of the Craft Mafia and Strangefolk, and their goal is to promote and highlight St Louis' Makers and Crafters, both hobbyists and professionals.  At the steering meeting Arch Reactor was spoken of highly, I think we can learn a lot from them, and also help them in some ways.

More on pods:  pods will be a mix of crafters and artists, sellers and demos.  Sellers will be asked to have demo component, even if it's just displaying their tools and materials.  demo'ers will also be allowed to sell.

More on kids:  there will be a Youth Maker component.  I think this is still being hashed out to what that means exactly.  if you want to be involved in that directly message me off list and I'll put you in touch to make that happen.

I'll get a form up soon for people to fill in demo and project ideas.  sometime after the networking party I'll setup a time for us to hash out a plan.

I am planning on going. I will be happy to run the Griffin. However, I doubt I can be there at 5pm. Maybe close to 5:30.

I will be there, but I have a meeting immediately prior to it also at the Science Center. I will probably be showing up around 6 or 6:30 when my meeting gets out comma so I probably can't bring anything but would be glad to help with a demo table

I'm planning to be there, have no idea what to bring, though.   Last year the card weaving was well received but the big loom needs repair and I don't have anything on the small loom right now.

Open to suggestions...   (I suppose I could bring the egg stuff, it isn't put away just yet, though I don't have anything in progress).

Suggestions?

I plan to attend this event. I will bring some of the littleBits, can help with the pickup and transport of items to the Science Center, if needed. Last year there wasn't much of a demand for an interactive display, but the educators and librarians really did like the littleBits. I can also bring my Raspberry Pi collection although it doesn't do much other than display the desktop on a screen. I can hand out our gears and flyers as well.

I have the box in my car already.  I do not have the 3d printer.  I should be there sometime between 5 and 5:30 depending when i can leave work, I'll need help unloading.

the main reasons we have a table tonight is to help show the new "pods" concept, which I'm a little fuzzy on myself, and to give others an idea of what a demo table might entail.

a question that's come up at the last few events is how things are digitally designed, so I plan to show some of those tools on my laptop, both 3D printing stuff and designs for larger traditional construction.  if whoever grabs the 3d printer can grab a couple of the new laptops that would be easier to show more tools.  they are currently in a suitcase looking thing near the server rack.

I am leaving work now. It is going to be a while before I can get down there. If people are already there, I can pick up the 3d printer. If no one else has.
