Hello all,

Unable to connect to my PI 3 from my laptop when they both connected to the AR Guest network (works okay at my house and it works from AR Member network)

Is there any kind of router/network block?  Is network discovery turned off?

Here is what I see
From the PI
pi@pi: ~ $ ifconfig
eth0   ....
lo     ....
wlan0  Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr b8:27:eb:cd:d4:ee
       inet addr:10.42.40.84  Bcast:10.42.40.255  Mask:255.255.255.0

From the Windows 10 laptop
C:\Users\BohraFamily>ipconfig

Windows IP Configuration

Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection:

   Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
   Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . :

Wireless LAN adapter Local Area Connection* 3:

   Media State . . . . . . . . . . . : Media disconnected
   Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . :

Tunnel adapter isatap.archreactor.net:

   Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . : archreactor.net
   Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::5efe:10.42.40.139%17
   Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :

Wireless LAN adapter Wireless Network Connection:

   Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . : archreactor.net
   Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::490b:c093:638c:7307%7
   IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 10.42.40.139
   Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
   Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 10.42.40.1

When I use Windows Remote Desktop and provide the IP address of the PI 3 it attempts to connect and then times out

I also tried to "ping" the PI 3 from the laptop and was NOT successful
C:\Users\BohraFamily>ping 10.42.40.84

Pinging 10.42.40.84 with 32 bytes of data:
Request timed out.
Request timed out.

Request timed out.

Ping statistics for 10.42.40.84:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),

Any ideas

Did you go through the captive portal on the pi?

[ANSWER] I meet Travis on Tuesday evening (2/21/17) and he mentioned that AR GUEST network is configured with "client isolation" turned on and as result devices attached to the network can NOT find each other
