Wands for First Friday?

My wife and I would like to make wands for Harry Potter First Friday this year. I checked the calendar for the wand-making night and didn't see it yet. Does anyone know when it will be?

Harry Potter First Friday is in September, as I recall.   We’ll likely think about making wands after Maker Faire unless we want to take a few to show off. 

If anyone finds a great sale on regular(high) temp glue sticks please consider picking them up as a donation.  Last year we went through over 200 sticks.  

Let’s avoid low-temp this year...

Arch Reactor doesn't usually schedule things more than ~2 months in advance. The Harry Potter First Friday is September 7, 2018. But we can get this on the schedule earlier than usual if you'd like.

In the past two years we've done multiple wand-making events leading up to the Harry Potter-themed First Friday. I imagine we'll do the same thing this year. Typically people will make their wand (stick + hot glue) and paint it one night, then the paint needs to dry and they can optionally apply more paint or spray-on sealer on a different day. I know we sprayed sealer on a bunch of wands for people who left wands for the sale, so the second session is not strictly necessary.

The Saturday classes that we've had recently (making chain mail, Arduino) have gone over really well so I'd like to put a Saturday wand-making class on the agenda, and I'll volunteer to lead it unless someone else wants to do that.

Here's a proposal for wand-making dates:

  Tuesday, August 21: 7:00pm-9:00pm

  Saturday, August 25: 2:00pm-5:00pm

  Tuesday, August 28: 7:00pm-9:00pm
