Does anybody know how to convert an MRI image into something you can 3d print?

You should be able to, it's just a matter of getting it in the right file formats, e.g. http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-convert-medical-scan-data-into-a-3D-printab/

I think there was a new article a bit back about a guy that saved his wife's life by being able to 3d print her MRI.

Yes, It's possible and os being used to save lives... I just saw this on the news a couple of nights ago and did a google search on 3D printers save lives MRI
