Work is trying to get rid of a downlink trailer. This isn't it, but it looks similar: http://www.sedownlinks.com/downlinks.php
I have always wanted to turn it into a solar power generator, but don't have anywhere to do it. Does this interest anyone else? If we move to Dixie, we might be able to set it up there. I just have to put it somewhere in the meantime. Otherwise, if anyone wants to claim it and turn it into something cool, let me know. They want to get rid of it in the next couple of weeks.

what size is it?  I've been looking for a 5x8, maybe 6x10 for a speliobox.  could possibly also double as a solar power box.  much bigger and my car won't easily pull it.

Does it include the actual trailer and for what cost?

That is simply spectacular. At the very least, it would make a good solar oven, but I do like the solar power generator idea even more.

Yeah, TV and big buisness events. They don't get much use anymore what with fiber, cellular and internet technologies. We are just keeping the best one and getting rid of the rest. I think its a 3 meter fiberglass dish. The trailer would also be available, but I don't remember what kind it is. I know the tires are flat, and its been sitting in a lot for a while, so I don't know how well they will hold air. I'll see if I can get an actual photo of it.

so extrapolating 3 meters and estimating, it's maybe 6x10?  I think I can work with that.

Same here. Chris called dibs on the trailer first, but if another becomes available I'd be interested

If you only need the trailer and don't need the dish from it, Brad Tissi is looking for a large satellite dish for a new project of his.

Yep, interested in the dish if it's a 3m+. I would need to borrow the trailer to get it home.

I'm out of town, and can't get anyone at work to let me know the status of the trailer and dish. There might also be another trailer, but I'll let you guys know for sure when I get back next week.

Sounds great. I'm in no rush as it would sit around until a retaining wall is finished.
Do you know if they have any of the mesh style dishes?

I know this is a really old thread, but they are still available, and now that we are at the new space I thought it would be a good time to bring them in. Kathy has OKed parking them in the far back of the lot for a few months while we do something with them. There are 2 Downlink trailers. One trailer (with the wood floor) is already spoken for by a coworker, but the aluminum heated dish is up for grabs. The other trailer is all metal and I think cw has first dibs on it if he wants it, but the tires are shot and would have to be replaced before it could be moved. On that trailer is a fiberglass dish that I would like to mount somewhere at AR, line with hard drive platters, and turn into a solar oven.

Here are some photos of them: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B6zTmHT17igFcHhhZzg5a2toSzA&usp=sharing

so it needs tires before it can get to AR?

Yeah, they look pretty rotten. I highly doubt they would hold any air

I would love to see a solar oven made out of this.

Well I am really interested in the trailer too.  I can come up with some tires if need be and would deliver the dish to whomever wants it.  Did anyone ever find out what they want for the dish/trailer?

I'm still on the lookout for a mesh version of one of these dishes for a gazebo. Though since I haven't found one yet, one of these solids is pretty tempting.

If this is still possible, and Matthew is still in, I could still use the dish.
