Hello AR,

I joined back in June and am now interested in becoming a full member. I wanted to see if it's possible and, if so, how best I might go about it? I am a full time artist for 20 years now and run a gallery in Maplewood called Hoffman LaChance contemporary since '04. I am currently moving my studio and have some wood working tools that, if interested, I could loan to the cause. I also have a litho press that was built by Peter Marcus back in the '70's. It's pretty rare because of it's scale. If there are other artists out there, it's something we can discuss using...the bed measures 5' x 10'....there aren't many this scale! I found it in a garage where it was sitting disassembled for 25 years and a bit rusty. I got an engine hoist and 6 people to put it back together....it runs great. It can handle all forms of print making except stone litho.

I would love to be a member with the hopes of learning the cnc router, the laser and 3d printers. Hoping too my background can be of use to anyone interested in the gnarly arts!

Thanks for your time!
Alicia

Hi Alicia,

Welcome to Arch Reactor!

The traditional way to become a full member of Arch Reactor (what is codified in the current Arch Reactor Standing Rules) is to join as a supporting member for a few months, get to know some of the full members, ask them to nominate you for full membership, then get voted in at the next business meeting. Business meetings occur at 8pm on the first Tuesday of the month.

If that sounds a little clunky, it is. Some members have recently worked on a proposal to modify the standing rules with the goal of streamlining the process to becoming a full member, and there is a poll that is open right now where members are being asked to approve the changes to Arch Reactor's standing rules. If these changes are adopted then the process for joining will be pretty much just filling out some forms, providing ID, and paying your first month's dues. Various details have yet to be worked out.

In the mean time, I encourage you to meet other members at the space, and if possible, attend the next business meeting on October 2.

Regarding loaning equipment to Arch Reactor: I suggest discussing that with the shop master: shopm...@archreactor.org.

Nathan
