Surveillance Self-Defense 101: A CLE Workshop for Lawyers, Students & Activists

On Friday, April 15, the National Lawyers Guild - St Louis and the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) will co-host a free workshop on surveillance self-defense with St Louis based groups. The workshop will be open to the public, though particularly structured for lawyers, law students, and activists supporting social movements.

No technical expertise is needed to attend this workshop, which is geared toward regular smartphone and laptop users. EFF's Shahid Buttar will co-facilitate a teach-in and skill-share on surveillance, some immediate and practical steps you can take to protect your communications and confidential data, and
how to work with community members to inform surveillance policy at the state and local level.

Co-sponsoring organizations include PLEA for Justice and SLU Law's American Constitution Society for Law and Policy.

Join us at Saint Louis University Law School in downtown St. Louis (100 N Tucker Blvd., Room 116) to learn more about surveillance, how to protect your privacy and information security, and how you can help build the movement wherever you live.

There is no cost to attend, but please register to help us plan accordingly and share this event: eff.org/04-15-16-STL.

Snacks will be provided.

Attorneys can receive 3.25 hours of Missouri Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) credit for $40.
Payments in the form of cash, check, or credit card will be accepted at the event.

There is a public Facebook event where any updates may be posted.

Although it is geared toward a general audience, I'm passing the event on here and it's also added to SLUUG's tech calendar.
